This is the largest of all three layouts, and is approximately an 80 feet long double track around the room with two 20 foot passing loops. The station, goods sheds and loco shed area have now been removed to allow it to link in to Tiverton Junction.
The N Gauge Model Railway:
The N gauge model railway didn't arrive until 2008. The track was already laid and operational. However the track plan has been altered with a new flyover to give the operators more to do. The track is back in place, the elecrics completed & trains running with just tidying up of the sidings, buildings and scenery to be finished.
Hemyock in N gauge:
This is a future project for the club once the N Gauge dc layout is finished.
Blackdown Rail in OO9:
This is the newest addition to the club and what a learning curve for the members. It is 6' X 5' with several interconnecting loops and hidden sections. We have had to make virtually everything & build our own loco's & rolling stock. It is an excellent model & with quarries, wharf, mines, village, trees & a trestle bridge to construct it was a race to get it ready for our show. This has become very popular at shows.
Chinehurst:
This exhibition layout, which has now been revamped, was kindly donated to us by Ron North of the High Wycombe & D MRS. It is a code 75 ex SR terminus with a scrap yard & plenty of 60's grafitti. Members do however like to run the occasional 1930's SR train now & then. It is about to converted to SR 3rd rail electric. After appearing in the Hornby Annual for 2011/12 this too has become very popular with shows in the southwest.
O Gauge Layout:
This is presently located in a members outbuilding and is based on a Cambrian Railways branch. Work is progressing steadily & members with an interest in O gauge tend to meet there on Wednesday's.
Bond Street Goods
This is a 16' layout still under construction
but has been exhibited at our show.
Tiverton Junction in OO Gauge:
We are currently in the very early stages of planning and building Tiverton Junction. The layout is going to be 22ft long X 8ft wide. It will consist of Tiverton Junction and the associated sidings, the Hemyock branch, the Tivertion Branch, and a 10 road fiddle yard. The layout will be wired up for DC and DCC, with the advantage to run locos with sound. The layout will be set around the 1960/63 era allowing steam and diesel express, stopping, branch, milk, oil and goods trains.
Tiv Junction, when complete & not being used for exhibition work, will be designed to slot into the clubs 80' OO gauge round the room layout.
