The Model Railways

The OO Gauge Model Railway:

This is the largest of all three layouts, and is approximately 80 feet long by with the station area 3ft wide. It is currently undergoing reconstruction from a terminus to a double track through station with a branch line, goods yard, carriage sidings and a large loco depot. It is hoped that it will be completed in 2009. Now the track and electrics are complete and all point motors work., the scenics need to be completed. This includes buildings, ballasting, signalling and painting.

Further work is to build a 4 platform faced through station on the lines on the opposite side of the room to the existing station, which will then become the main point of focus when work on Tiverton Junction commences.

The N Gauge Model Railway:

The N gauge model railway didn't arrive until 2008. The track was already laid and operational. However the track plan has been altered with a new flyover to give the operators more to do. The track is back in place, the elecrics completed & trains running with just tidying up of the sidings, buildings and scenery to be finished.

Hemyock in N gauge:

There is a new layout that is currently being contructed at the club house. This is being constructed by the two youngest members of the club. It is an 8ft X 18" which include a 2ft fiddle yard. The layout has just been started, with the aim to have track (working) and buildings down by christmas. This layout will be then available for exhibitons, and we hope to have it at our 2010 show.

O Gauge Layout:

This is presently located in a members outbuilding and is based on a Cambrian Railways branch. Work is progressing steadily & members with an interest in O gauge tend to meet there on Wednesday's.

Tiverton Junction in OO Gauge:

We are currently in the very early stages of planning and building Tiverton Junction. The layout is going to be 22ft long X 8ft wide. It will consist of Tiverton Junction and the associated sidings, the Hemyock branch, the Tivertion Branch, and a 10 road fiddle yard. The layout will be wired up for DC and DCC, with the advantage to run locos with sound. The layout will be set around the 1962/63 era allowing steam and diesel express, stopping, branch, milk, oil and goods trains.

Tiv Junction, when complete & not being used for exhibition work, will be designed to slot into the clubs 80' OO gauge round the room layout. It will sit over the existing fiddle yard which will only be used when Tiverton Junction is on exhibition duty.
