Sat Apr 9th 10.30am - 3.30pm; The club had it's open day . We tried to keep it low key & only advertised in the surrounding villages & had articles in the local parish mags. About 40 people turned up of which a new member was signed up. A few items were sold & the church made £40 from the sale of teas which was donated to the air ambulance. We were satisfied with how it went but next year will advertise it to a larger area.
Thurs 31 Mar.; Graham held his New Years Railway Quiz with members names drawn out of a hat to make 4 teams with 3 in each team. It was a thoroughly enjoyable night but the questions on Irish & US railways got heads scratching. The eventual winners were Peter & David Fosberry & Hedley by a small margin.
Thurs 17 Feb 2011- Steve Marshall of Globe Videos gave an excellent talk & slide show on Steam/Diesel traction on the GW mainline twixt Taunton & Exeter. 15 members & non members enjoyed a brilliant evening with previously unseen photos & old home movies of our area from the 1950's & 60's. Steve also did a good trade in discounted DVD's. Thanks to Cyril for the facilities at the United Reformed Church.

Graham arranged for Club members to visit the High Wycombe Group's Clubhouse, one of the formost clubs in the country. Although it was about 3 hours each way, it was an unforgetable day with about a dozen layouts & workshop space. The hospitality was fantastic & everyone had a great time.
28 Jan 2010 (7.30 pm) AGM
The club AGM saw 13 attendees. John Crocker remained as Treasurer but we have a new chairman in Hedley Thorne, replacing Pat Young, & Peter Fosberry, in place of Jeff Green, as Secretary. David Fosberry was voted as Press Secretary as well as being Exhibition Manager & Webmaster.
WHAT A SUCCESS our very first Model Railway Exhibition on October 24th 2009 was!!!!!
477 adults & children enjoyed themselves at Willand Village Hall looking at the 12 high quality layouts & 3 real steam locos on show. Bacon sandwiches & pasties were devoured all day & everyone, public, exhibitors & trader's had a great day.
All members did their bit to help it go to perfection. Posters, flyers, & local mag articles helped promote the show. The fact that the Exhibition Manager was only 17 interested the newspapers & articles & photos before & after the show gave us fantastic coverage.
The large amount of families including Mums & Daughters, who attended was commented on by many of the exhibitors making it a show not just for the enthusiast but for everyone. Lets hope that many potential new modellers have been hooked!
Our thanks go out to all the exhibitors who showed off their layouts & helped make it such a memorable day.ailway Talk
25 June 2009 19.30pm (7.30pm)
A talk & memorabelia on the Culm Valley Light Railway presented by Amyas Crump took place at the United Reform Church Hall, Commercial Road, Uffculme. It was open to everyone, not just club members, and a superb evening was had by a dozen or so attendees with some previously unseen colour slides of the area. At £1 (including refreshments) it made for a pleasant & informative evening. Consensus is that we will have to arrange another evening if Amyas is willing to visit us again.
