THE 2nd CVMRC SHOW IS TO BE SEPTEMBER 25TH AT WILLAND VILLAGE HALL
WHAT A SUCCESS our very first Model Railway Exhibition on October 24th 2009 was!!!!!
477 adults & children enjoyed themselves at Willand Village Hall looking at the 12 high quality layouts & 3 real steam locos on show. Bacon sandwiches & pasties were devoured all day & everyone, public, exhibitors & traderhad a great day.
All members did their bit to help it go to perfection. Posters, flyers, & local mag articles helped promote the show. The fact that the Exhibition Manager was only 17 interested the newspapers & articles & photosbefore & after the show gave us fantastic coverage.
The large amount of families including Mums & Daughters, who attended was commented on by many of the exhibitors making it a show not just for the enthusiast but for everyone. Lets hope that many potential new modellers have been hooked!
We are having a meeting & will decide if we are to hold the exhibition next year & if so, how can we improve on this years show!
Our thanks go out to all the exhibitors who showed off their layouts & helped make it such a memorable day.
Collett Goods Makes History!
9th July (10.20pm) A Collett Goods and 3 coaches made an inaugural circuit of our new extended layout. Yes it took just 6 evenings from deciding to extend the layout by 50' (making an 80' circuit), to having a train running on it, wow if only network rail were that fast! Malcolm's brackets were just the job and with a great team effort David soldered the final wires and drove the Collett on it's journey.
Culm Valley Light Railway Talk
25 June 2009 19.30pm (7.30pm)
A talk & memorabelia on the Culm Valley Light Railway presented by Amyas Crump took place at the United Reform Church Hall, Commercial Road, Uffculme. It was open to everyone, not just club members, and a superb evening was had by a dozen or so attendees with some previously unseen colour slides of the area. At £1 (including refreshments) it made for a pleasant & informative evening. Consensus is that we will have to arrange another evening if Amyas is willing to visit us again.
